Twentieth Century

After finding her working as a department store salesclerk, Broadway producer Oscar Jaffe (John Barrymore) makes Lily Garland (Carole Lombard) a star. The two fall deeply in love, only to have their temperamental and demanding personalities eventually drive them apart, sending Lily to Hollywood where she takes the town by storm. Without Lily, Oscar's career languishes. So when he finds they are both on board the Twentieth Century Limited bound for New York, Oscar sets out to convince her to star in a new show that he's sure will put him back on top.
