Adaptation of Noel Coward's sparkling play about a young English aristocrat whose engagement to a popular American actress leads to all manner of backhanded schemes to break up the unsuitable couple. The young man's mother is dismayed at her son's choice and the actress's paramour also reacts badly, but as secrets about the woman's past come to light, the young man's butler devises a cunning plan to suit all needs.
