Season 2 episodes (9)

1 The Curious Tunnel
6/26/15
When Tiny and Small discover a strange tunnel that appears to suck things upwards, they don’t think about where everything might be going – until confronted by a rather annoyed Granny covered in blue string pudding with cotton wool balls in her ears and a strange hat on her head, a hat that just minutes before had been put up the tunnel by Major Clanger!
2 Space Tangle
6/29/15
Small has invited the Iron Chicken to a picnic. But the Iron Chicken is late, and when Small looks through his telescope, he can see why. The Iron Chicken is trapped by a load of junk metal which has got caught in orbit around her nest. Major comes up with a clever solution to free the nest of the orbiting metal, but in doing so it seems he may have inadvertently lost the Iron Chicken.
3 Lonely as a Cloud
6/30/15
Tiny, Small, the Froglets and Baby Soup Dragon are having great fun playing games with the Cloud. But when Major calls them all for in bed, the Cloud is left alone and sad. A little bit later Tiny discovers she has left something where they were playing and goes back up to get it. Finding a sad Cloud, she agrees to one last game – a magical flight up into space.
4 In a Spin
7/1/15
While playing an energetic game in the living cave, Tiny and Small accidentally knock over a tankard and green soup spills out all over Granny’s best shawl. Even with the help of the Cloud and the Froglets, their best efforts to put things right only make things worse. Perhaps they should have owned up in the first place!
5 Tiny’s Orchestra
7/2/15
Tiny is stuck for ideas for a new tune to make up, so she asks Mother and Major what kind of tune they would most like to hear. Major wants something “bold and stirring” while Mother would like something “light and charming”. Tiny’s best attempts to please them both come to nothing, until a ride on a Skymoo gives her the inspiration she needs.
6 The Metal Bug
7/3/15
Small Clanger finds a strange ball while out fishing in space. No one knows what it is so Major decides to put it on a shelf in his workshop. But a little while later he finds it in two hollow pieces on the ground – and the Soup Dragon discovers that something has been eating the copper trees. Could the two events be connected?
7 Mother’s Melody
7/6/15
Tiny Clanger has made up a lovely new tune to play with her singing flower friends. Mother Clanger thinks Tiny is very talented, but when Tiny suggests Mother should have a go, she gets very flustered and rushes off to her garden. But Major Clanger has a plan – and soon there is the sound of lovely music coming from the garden. Who can possibly be playing?
8 Crash Bang Chicken
7/7/15
A Skymoo accidentally knocks the Iron Chicken out of her nest, and falling to the surface of the Clangers’ planet she hurts her wing. But although Major Clanger manages to mend it, she has lost her confidence and can’t fly. It takes all the ingenuity of Small Clanger, and another intervention by the Skymoo to get her back to her nest under her own wing power.
9 Major’s Meteor
7/8/15
Small is really upset when, out fishing in the music boat with Major Clanger, he not only fails to catch anything but also misses seeing the two spectacular lights that streak across the sky – meteors as Granny later tells him. Major Clanger determines to cheer Small up by inventing a “meteor machine”.

About this show

The Clangers are a family of pink, long-nosed, inventive and inquisitive mouse-shaped creatures who live on a small blue planet, out in the starry stretches of space not far from our world. The planet’s surface is peppered with craters topped with metal dustbin lids. These flip open and shut with a 'Clang!' – hence the series’ name – and the craters they cover reveal steps and tunnels to warm, inviting caves and burrows. The family have many friends (the cast regulars) that participate in and make up their community. But space is also filled with all manner of weird and wonderful objects and creatures that can visit the planet too. These visits are often the catalyst for a brand new adventure for the Clangers and their friends. Kind creatures the Clangers are welcoming, warm and generous in the way they behave. They are inclusive and quirky, which often results in comedy from both characters and the situations they find themselves in. They are problem solvers too, usually discovering that the help of others is the solution to any problem! They communicate with distinctive whistles and a Narrator assists our audience by commenting on their everyday events and adventures – rather like a knowing wildlife observer.

I remember "The Clangers" from when I was a child, and loved the original series. I was apprehensive about watching the new series at first but I shouldn't have been because it's an absolute joy. Wonderful stories, perfect animation, faultless narration - it's utterly superb. Watching it I feel like a child again.

As a family of adults we never missed an episode of the original series. What a wonderful series this new one is.
