Started alittle slowly but it was necessary to build the sense of family amongst the crew. The likeness of the characters to the actors was quite impressive and the overall feel of the incident comes across as real, as does the emotion. Everyone deserves to come home how they went to work, money should not be more important than safety procedure.

Deepwater Horizon is an absolutely great film depicting the oil spill disaster on the Deepwater Horizon oil rig operated by offshore-oil-drilling company Transocean under contract for BP in the Gulf of Mexico in early 2010. It shows the human effort to save life and the people on board the rigs heroism, teamwork, calm and raw emotion when disaster struck. It is not a light watch. A gripping on-the-edge sort of film. The film has great little messages like the effects we as humans have on our environment and the utter destruction that greed propels insanity. It is important to research further about what went wrong and what later investigations proved.

This film does feel a bit slow during it's first act but once the disaster is underway, the pace really kicks up. Despite the first act, Deepwater Horizon is still worth watching for its special effects and its touching story of the people's struggles during the disaster and after. The monologue at the end is also a nice addition.
