About this movie

Driven by a desire to understand why her best friend killed herself at 16, Jacqueline Monetta, 18, finds teens willing to talk about their struggles with mental illness and thoughts of suicide. Through her intimate one-to-one interviews, Jacqueline explores the difficulties teens face in this interconnected technology driven world. With unprecedented honesty and openness, they give vivid accounts of depression, anxiety, self-harm, thoughts of suicide, suicide attempts and getting help. Speaking with voices originating inside the community, they encourage teens to get support and to be supportive. Not Alone gives hope to teens struggling with mental illness.

Not Alone is a powerful documentary that talks about issues that are sometimes difficult to confront. This documentary initiates a dialogue that is approachable and insightful. Even if you might think that suicide or depression doesn't affect you or someone you love, this is an incredible piece that educates and will hopefully help change the way we deal with mental health.

NOT ALONE does not waste time and gets straight to the heart of the teen suicide epidemic. And best of all it's real teens talking to other teens. No preachy adults offering cliched advice from long ago. One could not ask for a better glimpse into what it means to be a teenager today: it's different, difficult and also better than ever before.
