Ghost Hunt

The appeal of the unknown is undeniable and freshman Mai Taniyama is hooked. But her love for the telling of ghost stories seems to have unleashed a plague of spirits upon her school, drawing both mystical and scientific investigators to the campus in an effort to separate truth from hearsay. The most enigmatic of them all, Kazuya "Naru" Shibuya of the Shibuya Psychic Research team, enlists Mai to aid in his research after an accident lands her predecessor in the hospital. Within the oldest halls of the school, death awaits. And when a student gets attacked, it is apparent that the darkest corners are not truly empty.

A school is held captive by death and fear, supposed ghosts lashing out at the living. Some claim that no spirits drift among the students. But when the principal joins the ranks of those victimized, everyone must agree that something strange is going on. An exorcism begins under the watch of skeptics and believers alike. Perhaps a poltergeist? A soul left behind by suicide? As the walls of the old school begin to rattle and shake, Mai herself falls prey to the invisible scourge.

The investigation of the haunted school continues and the casualties are stacking up. Yet Naru has vanished, leaving the other members of the research team to fend for themselves. When he reappears, a complicated test is administered to those gathered, seeking reasons for the unreasonable trembling of walls and moving furniture. The results prove that all is not what it seems. There is more to the mystical than ghosts and spirits. As the case wraps, Naru enlists Mai to work part-time for the SPR team.

Restless spooks often flock to children, and as the SPR checks in on their newest case they encounter a young girl at the center of a spiritual storm. Furniture is moving unassisted. Flames erupt from kitchen appliances. This particular haunting is one of aggression and anger. As the little girl clutches to her doll, Minnie, for security, the cleansing rituals begin. Legend tells that such toys were created as vessels for souls, but even the creepiest of old tales can't prepare the team for the horrors at hand.

All signs point to a doll as the source of the evil that surrounds a frightened family. The spirit which possesses the toy is cruel and jealous, reacting harshly as her child mistress reveals the secrets of their supernatural bond. When a ceremonial fire fails to destroy the doll, fear drives the little girl to real danger and calamity. And as the family unravels, Naru looks into the twisted history of their home. Death has been a consistent visitor within its walls, the moans of departed children filling the air.

Minnie's vengeance has shaken all who have seen. A specter appears amid a horrible chorus of pain and fear, begging the name... Tomiko... Tomiko. A wisp of smoke wraps like murderous fingers around Mai's throat as a secret well is revealed beneath the floor, the soul of a woman hidden deep within, a maternal siren to the spirits of dead children. Naru has a plan, but it is a controversial one. If there is to be peace for the haunted family and the departed as well, the light of love will have to shine into the depth of darkness.

Dalliances with dark forces have brought a curse upon a high school, and all who sit at a certain desk have shared a scary fate. There are other strange occurrences as well. While none of the incidents are extremely serious, the sheer glut of them is alarming to the members of the SPR. With their equipment resources spread thin, the ghost hunters will have to depend heavily on their individual instinct. New information brings grim details and the tale of a girl ostracized and scorned might hold clues.

A student accused of faking a display of spoon bending powers has become the subject of scorn and she has cursed the teachers who revolted against her. The staff and student body is tense, heaping oppression on the girl. Abnormal manifestations of evil continue to arise as the investigation is carried forth, and the facts just won't add up. The SPR mediums sense no ghosts, and yet spirits appear. As visions of demonic fire pepper Mai's dreams the culprit is getting close to being revealed.

The effects of a student's curse have gotten steadily more serious as the SPR continues to seek answers, but team members are getting attacked and the persecution of the suspect is getting out of hand. Mai's burgeoning powers of intuition continue to defend the guilty. Trapped together with Naru in the sewers beneath, more clues lie revealed and the number of hexed effigies found is disturbing in its ramifications. Someone is serious about raining havoc down upon the students of the school.

Naru begins to unravel the threads that bind the secrets of a cursed school, and all of the players in the supernatural drama are gathered for questioning. While one heart weeps oppressed and loathed, another releases years of pain, revealing a diabolical plan to punish those that doubt the powers of the unseen. Remember: One must know all of the tricks up a charlatan's sleeve to avoid being duped. As the equipment is packed away for the next case, Mai's powers of intuition are confirmed.

Something is not right at the local park where for the last six months young lovers have been getting soaked by water, a bothersome flood from nowhere. Naru believes it to be the work of a prankster but investigates none the less. The SPR team breaks off into pairs, hoping to coax the spirit out and sure enough, Masako finds herself possessed. The ghost is that of a woman scorned, a young romantic left to commit suicide after being cheated on. In the name of peace, the SPR will help her get her revenge.

Christmas Eve has come and a local church has asked for the help of the SPR. The priest is a caretaker for numerous children and the spirit of a young boy, silent and sweet and orphaned so long ago, is skipping through their numbers, possessing some at random. With the sound of stick on stone, clues come from deep in the surrounding woods, the ghost guiding the haunted kids in an endless game of hide and seek. As Mai follows a child into the forest, the possession takes hold of her.

Mai has been possessed by Kenji, a lost spirit that lingers about a church where many children are cared for. The haunting seems to be escalating, the possessions happening faster and more frequently. Mai unwittingly participates in the spirit's ritual of hide and seek, the very game that led to the boy's untimely death. The investigators are forced to wonder... Why does Kenji hide when he wants to be found? Remember to look up... Not all of the answers sought are at eye level.

A demon dog prowls Rokuryo High School, waiting to maul the unsuspecting. Whispers of a student's death prove the halls will need to be purged of the unholy remnants of childhood folly.

The campus is held captive by demons. As Mai blacks out during a phantom ambush, it becomes obvious that the members of the SPR might be in over their heads.

The ghost of a suicidal student has been swallowed by an ever-growing foxfire, and the SPR believes the threat was released with evil intention. While the scourge was meant for one teacher, everyone is at risk.

In order to save one soul, the entire student body will have to pay with their lives. As all gather in the auditorium, Mai confronts death in a pool of blood. The end is near for many.

People are vanishing within the walls of a strangely constructed house. A séance makes contact with pleading voices from beyond -- "Someone please help. I don't want to die."

While investigating the strange house, Mai is snatched by villains in lab coats and taken to a bloodstained torture chamber. Paralyzed, bound, with a blade at her throat, her screams of terror go unheard.

Mai has telepathically experienced a gruesome murder. The house's history holds legends of one who bathed in blood, seeking eternal youth. As the body count grows, Naru pulls his team out.

As the team prepares to abandon the case, one of their own is spirited away to the chamber of horrors. Rescue must be swift if Masako is to survive.

The SPR team encounters their most horrifying case yet. A child has been marked for death by something awful from beyond. When the evil spirit is driven out, it quickly takes another host -- Naru.

Mai discovers that her recent dream coincides perfectly with a local tale of suicidal young lovers that died on hallowed grounds. The clues lead to a cave where rumor soon proves truth.

Mai's abilities reveal treachery and tangled souls seeking rebirth at the foot of a cliff. The SPR must fight for their very lives when a massive horde of the undead attacks.

The team is exhausted, outnumbered, and near defeat. Ayako draws out the spirits of the enslaved, releasing Naru from his unnatural slumber. Now, the fate of his friends is in his hands.
