Life Story

The lives of animals are traced through six stages: infancy, growing up, finding a home, gaining power, winning a mate and succeeding as a parent. How a creature fares during infancy is the foundation of all other stages of success.

Once they reach adulthood animals must strike out on their own and learn to survive without their parents. Navigating the thin line between life and death is a struggle and every success, no matter how small, makes a difference.

Animals ensure survival by finding shelter from the elements and their enemies. But good homes are rare, and the competition can be intense. Finding a home is one thing, but defending it is quite another.

Power is the ultimate prize. Animals use any means to rise through the ranks and win at the game of life. Those who are successful know when to fight or back down, when to cooperate or go it alone, and when to manipulate and deceive.

Competition for a mate creates some of the most incredible beauty and life-threatening violence found in nature. Dazzling colours, complex dances, and powerful weapons are all part of the ritual. The stakes are high: without a mate, life ends here.

Continuing the family line through the next generation is the final challenge of life's journey. Successfully raising offspring is the next best thing to immortality, but it isn't easy. Some parents must risk their own lives for their offspring.
