I love this show. It's not 100% smart but it generally does its research and puts together a plausible bit of trickery in every plot. It's cheesy and blatantly plays up the Miami sex appeal but frankly it's about competent people working together and putting their bs drama aside when they need to get something done. Way better for my mood than the constant angst of most shows.

Remember all those spy/vigilante shows from the 70s and 80s? Now imagine if those were plotted and written competently and wrapped up in car chases and practical special effects and you have Burn Notice. Great, fun characters as well as an interesting arc that evolves throughout the seven seasons, Burn Notice satisfies with every episode, season and as a completed work. Michael Weston is a spy who gets fired in the middle of an op. Spy get "burn notices" when they are fired and are here-forth referred to as "burned". No official identity, no cash, no job history. They are dumped is a city until their case is cleared or the country decides what to do with them. Michael gets dumped in Miami and he is resolved and finding out who burned him and why. Every episode is a self-contained story about an op that Mike and his employees/partners/friends/family take on to make ends meat and or get closer to the truth, closer to clearing Michael's name with the CIA. Must watch.

Just keep that in mind when watching this show. Gritty, funny, explosive, and lots of fun to watch. I can only say good things about this show. If you give it a chance, you will not be disappointed. For example, Wire fans watch out for special guest stars (?????) I have to say though, Bruce Campbell absolutely shines in this series as well. Enjoy Burn Notice, I did!
