Best movie I've watched this year - another coup-de-foudre from the Cohen / Mc Dormand stable. Guffaws from Leitrim in NW Ireland. We've had one rotten, wet summer this year and this film is one of the saving graces of this season. Typical, utterly faultless, production values, which make the wicked belly-laughs all the more surprisingly delightful. Once again the Cohen brothers have given us a movie which can take its place proudly in any collection.

Didn't deliver for me. I was left unsure on what the movie was trying to achieve. I thought it to be quirky and fun, but it was lengthy and dry more than anything else. Although spiked with a range of established actors, the plot stalls and jumps in a way which I found to be very disruptive. There are a few warmly funny moments, but way too rare to keep me hooked. Bit of a shame.

Watched this with low expectations after all the poor reviews but was pleasantly surprised. Not laugh out loud funny but consistently amusing. Good cast, good acting and production and little bit different to the usual. Worth a punt just don't expect greatness.
