About this movie

Throughout American life, "our better angels" have battled to lead the country forward--and prevailed. This documentary, based on Jon Meacham's 2018 bestseller, illuminates our present-day, fraught political reality by exploring historical challenges including the women's suffrage movement, the incarceration of Japanese Americans, McCarthyism, and the fight to pass Civil Rights legislation in the 1960s. These turning points serve as reminders of the progress made and the struggle that continues.

Brilliant documentary! Excellent! A good antidote to the pea-brained ignorance of the Trump years and right-winged propaganda. This country will not slide back into the 1950's era of homogeneity and brutal racism, sexism, and homophobia. Cultural diversity is here to stay: we will not go backwards!

Omitted a lot of facts like...an angry white mob of democrats descended upon republican sheriff who refused to turn over a black youth and in response the mob destroyed a thriving community ...
