With the end of summer nearing after graduating high school, Gene prepares for his friends‘ last crime dinner-themed slumber party. To top it off, they dress up as numerous characters from theatre and literature. They meet as Alice in Wonderland, Dracula’s Mina Harker and Amelia Havisham from Dickens’ ‘’Great Expectations’’. Master detective Sherlock Holmes and the brilliant Dr. Jekyll join the festivities as well. Before everyone leaves for college, Gene hopes to come out as gay to his friends. However, the teenager is apprehensive due to what his sheltered Christian friends might think. What starts as a celebration of friendship soon escalates into an ordeal. The group that remained close throughout high school now has to figure out whether they want to cling to the past or look ahead despite the many uncertainties. The evening takes its turbulent course. This hilarious feature film debut is a poignant homage to theatre nerds, young adults and the intense friendships that shape our childhood.
