Twelve-year-old Wiktor is a pupil at the renowned Bytom Ballet School. He’s preparing for an event of enormous importance in school life; the ‘promo show’, which decides whether or not he’ll be ‘promoted’ and move up to the next grade. All the teachers and all the pupil’s parents take part in the occasion. Every year, Wiktor invites his father to the promo show but, so far, he’s never turned up. Wiktor’s everyday companion is his grandmother; homework, dance practice and fun all happen under her watchful eye. He’s growing up. However, he posts the promo show invitation addressed to his father on his own.
