For once I agree with Snoop Dog. Where's the movie depicting the 300 years Christians were beaten, hung and slaughtered? Every gender, race, nationality, and faith has been persecuted, enslaved and murdered at some point in history. Quit beating a dead horse.// ps.... I scrolled thru & looked at about 50, 5 star reviews and all of them only showed this movie in their review list....interesting....prob the ppl who were involved in making it, & interested in profits perhaps.

This version of Roots differs from the text of Alex Haley's novel. I listen to the full audiobook once a year. Is it more thrilling? Yes it is, at the expense of believability. Kunte Kinte refused to stop running until half his foot was cut off. That kind of determination is inspirational. Making him a composite of every enslaved man is what I object too. I prefer the first miniseries and I hope it will be made available for purchase and download.

Freedom of religion is a right that was established in 1786, and was broken in 1890 by the white men when 300 Lakota were attending a ghost dance ceremony. To be honest i think this remake was a big waste of money that could have been used to teach more than what was shown.
