Synopsis
At forty-two, Han Tae Il (Hwang Jung Min) is well settled into his life as a low-level thug. Roaming the streets of Gunsan, Tae Il makes a living by collecting debts for a local loan shark and harassing shop owners to make their monthly protection payments to the small gang he regularly works for. Though detested by many, Tae Il has no qualms about his job. He’s simply satisfied doing what he does best.
Living with his brother, Han Young Il (Kwak Do Wan) and his family, Tae Il is perfectly content to be a part of his brother’s happy domestic life; yet he has never dreamed of having one of his own. Having never been in love, Tae Il has never given the idea much thought. But when a job brings Joo Ho Jung (Han Hye Jin), a pretty bank clerk struggling to care for her terminally ill and debt-ridden father, into his life, things take an unexpected turn. Forcing Ho Jung to sign an impossible contract, Tae Il doesn’t think much about it. At least not until he realizes he can’t seem to get Ho Jung off his mind. Feeling bad for the contract he made her sign, Tae Il offers her a different contract, but only on the condition that she agrees to go out with him.
Despite their awful and rocky beginnings, Tae Il and Ho Jung soon find themselves coming to enjoy each other’s company. Realizing he has fallen in love for the very first time, Tae Il couldn’t be happier; but an awful truth soon takes that all away. Will this man in love find the strength to overcome one of life’s most cruel fates?
