Synopsis

Love comes in many forms, it shapes our lives in ways we can’t even begin to comprehend. Never was this truth more evident than when eight lonely souls, in search of the one who can make their life complete, find themselves entangled in an ever-evolving story of life and love. Devoted to her family in every way, Yi Jia (Ivy Chen) is the ideal daughter. A member of her college cycling team and frequent helper at her family’s restaurant, she is everything her parents could ever hope for in a daughter. Unfortunately, she has no real personality of her own. Unexceptional in every way, Yi Jia blends in wherever she goes, an overlooked nobody who is often outshone by her flamboyant best friend, Xiao Min (Amber Kuo). Talented, confident, and assertive, Xiao Min is the exact opposite of Yi Jia, but that has never gotten in the way of their friendship. Even when Xiao Min starts dating the aspiring film director, Ah Kai (Eddie Peng), Yi Jia is always there to support her friend and is happy to count Ah Kai as a friend. But when Yi Jia finds herself caught up in an ill-fated love affair, this intrepid trio’s friendship is put to the test. Meanwhile, successful entrepreneur and flippant playboy, Mark (Mark Chao) is in the process of moving to Beijing. As his feisty real estate agent, Xiao Ye (Zhao Wei), shows him some of the city’s most lavish homes, he finds himself strangely drawn to her. A single mother who takes no sass, Xiao Ye is nothing like the women he’s been chasing all these years. As he spends more time with her, he begins to wonder if he might have been looking for love in all the wrong places. At the same time, wealthy businessman, Chao Ping (Doze Niu) and his materialistic mistress, Rou Yi (Shu Qi), are going through a rough patch in their relationship. After one particularly ugly fight, Rou Yi finds herself being rescued from Chao Ping’s rage by Xiao Kuan (Ethan Juan), an innocent soul with a friendly, boy-next-door personality. Offering her a place to escape her hectic life in the limelight, Rou Yi accepts Xiao Kuan’s hospitality and eventually his friendship. During their time together, Rou Yi has time to contemplate her life and begins to wonder if it isn’t time to make some serious life changes. The story of eight souls interwoven by fate, “Love” is a 2012 Taiwanese-Chinese romance film directed by Doze Niu.
