The House of the Devil

The House of the Devil

Directed by Ti West

A stranger lures a babysitter to a house with an unusually large sum of money. But when she arrives, Samantha doesn’t find any kids. Just a large and very creepy house, that may not be as empty as it seems. Indie horror director Ti West (THE INNKEEPERS) made his mark with this terrifying ‘80s throwback, featuring cult horror legends like Dee Wallace (THE HOWLING), Mary Woronov (NIGHT OF THE COMET), plus Greta Gerwig - before she hit it big. You’ll never bop around listening to headphones in an empty house again after watching what happens to Samantha. Contains violence and gore.

Cast: Jocelin Donahue, Tom Noonan, Mary Woronov, Greta Gerwig, AJ Bowen

inverted pentagram in producer credit during opening immediately followed by the satanic panic reference. $100 says the satanic panic guy practices magic.

This movie was a waste of time. Drawn out and very generic. Based on reviews, I thought it would be ok to watch, but I’m not sure what movie they were watching.

I love horror movies ok . This is literally the worst movie I have ever seen and the positive reviews are seriously making me scratch my head.

This was simply fantastic. Watched it at an early screening back in March and have been dying to watch it again ever since. I hope we get more horror like this!

This movie is about 40 minutes too long. It would’ve defintively worked better as part of an anthology movie. It looks great visually and the post 70’s / early 80’s arsthetic is chef’s kiss… but that’s the only thing it got going for it. Good thing Ti West has gotten better as time goes by. This one’s defintively one you can skip from the man’s filmography.
