The House by the Cemetery

The House by the Cemetery

Directed by Lucio Fulci

Gruesome supernatural slayings begin after a family moves into their new house in the final entry in Lucio Fulci’s “Gates of Hell” trilogy. The Boyle’s new house hides a horrific history of murder and torment, including a recent familicide committed by Norman Boyle’s former colleague. But as Norman tries to uncover the mystery behind the murders, he uncovers an otherworldly secret that may be closer than he thinks. Though it’s tonally less apocalyptic than CITY OF THE LIVING DEAD and THE BEYOND, the creeping suspense and gory FX should satisfy any Fulci fan. Contains violence and gore.

Before I say anything else, Bob sucks. That said, this is pretty average, and has its moments of humor sprinkled throughout. You’ll be left scratching your head at moments, and actually intrigued by the events going on at others. The family definitely makes questionable choices. While I wouldn’t watch this again, I’d definitely recommend watching it once.

I really enjoyed watching this film. It’s definitely not “great” from a directorial pov but it’s a very fun watch. The story is a little convoluted and all over the place but the practical effects/gore were done super well and you get your moneys worth. No off screen boring kills. Bob is the WORST and I was hoping he wouldn’t make it to the end. But I love to hate him none the less. 3 skulls, probably wouldn’t watch again.

Not 100% terrible of a movie once you watch the whole thing, but definitely wouldn’t watch again. Had lots of funny scenes in it while offering an over abundance of gore. I agree with a majority of the comments that you’ll enjoy hating Bob in this movie!

Am i the only one that thinks the film Barbarian took alot of thematic and conceptual influence from this flick? just something to think about ot shoot the fk outta the sky but as far as this movie goes it does a great job of trapping you inside the overall feel and demented tone with the cast.
