Skinamarink

Directed by Kyle Edward Ball

Two children wake up in the middle of the night to find their father is missing, and all the windows and doors in their home have vanished. To cope with the strange situation, the two bring pillows and blankets to the living room and settle into a quiet slumber party situation. They play well worn videotapes of cartoons to fill the silence of the house and distract from the frightening and inexplicable situation. All the while in the hopes that eventually some grown-ups will come to rescue them. However, after a while it becomes clear that something is watching over them. A SHUDDER ORIGINAL.

Been obsessed with this movie since I first watched it. Each viewing sheds a little more light on things for me. I was very imaginative and scared a lot of the time as a kid and I’m guessing that’s why this resonated so much with me. This movie is weird, original, and very off putting.

Still don't have a clue what I just watched, im sure there's some wannabe film critic out there that can explain all the deeper meaning they've read into. However, the ending was absolutely terrifying alone with the lights off, first time I've ever been stun-locked and unable to look away or move at a film.

nooooot for everyone. it is unique but also quite slow. it's like actually getting the visuals when your friend tells you about their nightmare. you know for them it was visceral and full of dread, but because you weren't experiencing it, it just sounds strange at best, boring at worst.

This film is easily one of the most polarizing, and you can see that for yourself with the other comments. The reasons for that are that this movie does some really great things, while also taking too much time to do them. I'd say this is the epitome of suspense and tension in a movie, but it comes at a cost of your time and full attention. You need to watch this with headphones or with limited distractions to really feel the uncomfortable gravity of this artsy film school project. You might still end up somewhat disappointed as I did, but if you seek more than cheap thrills, appreciate horror on a deeper level, or want to make a horror film of your own, watching this is highly recommended.
