A group of teenage friends are found dead, their bodies grotesquely contorted, their faces twisted in terror. Reiko, a journalist and the aunt of one of the victims, sets out to investigate the shocking phenomenon, and in the process uncovers a creepy urban legend about a supposedly cursed videotape, the contents of which causes anyone who views it to die within a week - unless they can persuade someone else to watch it, and, in so doing, pass on the curse...

When I started watching, I realized that I had seen it before. However, I guess for whatever reason I may have not watched the whole thing, or it is just my senility blocking parts from memory LOL. Anyway, it is an awesome movie, like @Deanc says "so much better than the American version". I agree with that 100%, this is one of the creepiest shows that I have seen, there is just something about it. It is definitely a cult classic. The Japanese scenery also makes it an awesome movie. So yes, watch it, you will not be disappointed.

Excellent. It can't be compared to the American version. The latter had the advantage of a much bigger budget. It harkens back to Japanese ghost stories in a very captivating way. I was quite scared at times...
