Academy Award winner Clark Gable stars with Deborah Kerr and Ava Gardner in this story of a war hero who comes close to losing his integrity for success as one of The Hucksters. When Victor Albee Norman (Gable) returns from World War II, he takes a job with an advertising agency. But to win the account of an unscrupulous business executive, he must con a grieving war widow (Kerr), blackmail an old friend and betray the woman who loves him (Gardner). Only when he seems to have become a completely soulless conniver does Norman realize how low he has sunk, and he walks away from the advertising business.
