Bob and Gail Jones (Michael Keaton and Nicole Kidman) are expecting their first child when they discover Bob has cancer and may not live to see their new baby. While fighting the illness, Bob decides to make a video of his life as a gift to his child. But in the process of making the video, he comes to the realization that he has no understanding of who he is or what his life has been about. Bob is thrust into a journey of self-discovery as he explores his past and the relationships that have made him who he is. Finding healing and completion, Bob's video voyage becomes a celebration of life and his final gift to those he loves.
