Director and star Ed Harris was nominated for an Academy Award® for Best Actor for his portrayal of painter Jackson Pollock, America's first "Art Star" whose bold and radical style of painting changed the course of modern art. His devoted wife, Lee Krasner (Marcia Gay Harden), tirelessly promoted her husband's career, often at the expense of her own growth as an artist. But the torments that plagued the artist all his life, perhaps the ones that drove him to paint in the first place, continued to haunt him. As he struggled with self-doubt, engaging in a lonely tug-of-war between needing to express himself and wanting to shut the world out, Pollock began a downward spiral that would threaten to destroy his marriage, his career, and,on one deceptively calm and balmy summer night in 1956, his life.
