A sequel to `2001: A Space Odyssey', the film shows a joint American-Soviet expedition sent to Jupiter 9 years later to find out what happened to Discovery, the corruption of the HAL computer and the disappearance of Dave Bowman. The mission is led by Dr Heywood Floyd, who is held responsible for the failure of the first mission.
