About this show

This warm, light-hearted detective drama is a fish-out-of-water story about a quintessential English policeman posted to the Caribbean island of Saint-Marie. To anyone else it would be paradise, but for Detective Inspector Richard Poole it's hell! Totally unsuited to the Caribbean way of life, Richard hates the sun, sea and sand and isn't used to their style of policing. But he finds his brilliant detective skills combine well with the local police to help solve a series of mysterious murders. Will Richard ever come to see the beauty of his surroundings? Perhaps not, but he might one day loosen his tie.

I love this show! I do wish they hadn't killed Richard, but Humphrey is OK I suppose. I hate that Camille is gone now as well, but the Brits have that 3 year contract just like w/Downton Abbey, and actors get bored! Maybe one day the lead DI will be played by a black actor, but I understand the whole "fish out of water" premise. I try to never miss it every Thursday night on PBS, but if I do I'm glad I can find them all here. Nothing wrong with formula dramas. Makes it fun to guess whodunit.

Always entertaining. Just bought season 8 for 16.99 for 8 episodes. Should have purchased each episode separately for 1.99. 8 shows would have been 15.92 (pre tax), instead of the 16.99. Strange 'cause it's usually a bit cheaper if you buy the package. So pay attention. Season 8 is cheaper purchased by separate shows.

I needed a show to watch while waiting for the new sherlock holmes season, and while this isn't as tense and mind twisting, it is a delightfully fun show. With my wife and her family being from the Caribbean it hits home for me. I hope they don't cancel this show anytime soon.
