Disaster strikes the Brown household when Paddington is told he must attend school. This dramatic news leads to a series of adventures with unexpected consequences. Having accidentally mislaid a tin of worms while serving the school dinner, he is banished to the head master's study, where he falls asleep and dreams he is taking part in the school concert to be held that afternoon. After a virtuoso performance, first as a violinist, then as a strongman and finally in a Paddington version of the Can-Can, he wakes to the news that all is forgiven. Not only has the can of worms been found intact, but he is presented with a certificate to say he doesn't need to attend school after all - ever again.

Much to everyone's astonishment, he and his partner sweep the floor and win the cash prize. Paddington's troubles are over and he is able to grant Mr Brown his most unusual birthday wish.
