Just watch it. Season 2 gets a lot of criticism, but I found it just as good in its own way. I feel people were struck by the amazing Matthew Mcconaughey performance and felt it didn't compare. Nothing compares to it, but if season 2 would have been billed as a completely different show, out of the shadow of Rust Cohle, people would have rated it 5 stars.

WONDERFUL except for Season 2 which I couldn't get through. Season 3 is great too so far, though I think I know who "dunnit." That said, it perpetuates the idea of the flyover countryside being full of pervs and serial killers which is an unfortunate Hollywood cliché. The writers ought to look a little closer to home for that material, the surface of which has barely been scratched.

I'm a big fan of these two stars but I couldn't have imagined that either of them would be this great in a series. Incredible, extremely dark story line that draws you in and doesn't let go. The only thing I wish is that there were more episodes or seasons to watch.
