I love Charles Dickens' original book and I have always waited for a day when a film adaptation would do it justice, by showing all of the detail of the original work. Does this version do that? No. But I was still very moved by this version. Why? Because it is so very real. Yes, there is swearing - but having gone through some of these experiences, people will have sworn. There is so much in this version about Scrooge's school experiences that explain his character. There is so much detail about his relationship with his own father and his sister. There is so much about his relationship with Mary and Tim Crachitt. I know this version will not be for everybody. But I know I will watch this again and again and again. I am confident that each time I watch it, I will get something new out of it. And I am confident that I will never forget it, as long as I live.
