I'm on episode three. I think the story lines and acting are good but I can't help but think the series is marketed towards a specific demographic. The consistent age range of all the actors...where's the 20 somethings, teens...and the soundtracks is all geared towards the mid-seventies grade school AM radio generation. If this is by design of some script ticking of the boxes to attract this specific demographic then bravo....mission accomplished. But won't this ultimately fall in upon itself eventually? What seems to be an all well and good recipe might need to be a bit more dynamic in the cast and less predictable in story line. Mad Men had wildly dynamic story lines that brought the viewer to surprising places and were creative. This seems a little too 'marketed' to a particular viewer....a little too women's soap opera. Since the two principal players are top notch I'm expecting more from the episodes in the way of being less middle-class behavioral class for the masses and actually have interesting stories that bring another dynamic into the series...something that challenges the viewer and not plays to an imagined, comfortable, middle-class ideal.
