David Haller is actually Charles Xaviers' son. They showed him in one of the movies as a drooling mutant forcing Xavier to see something not there while in the Cerebro room.

It's Marvel so it seemed worth the risk, and it definitely was. Even without knowledge of the back story, it was still wonderful. I loved the storyline, the cinematography and especially the acting. Dan Stevens just proved how versatile he is as an actor. Here he is playing another conflicted character, but it doesn't feel like he's borrowing from his Downton Abbey character at all. 2 thumbs and 5 stars.
