Superb acting, storytelling, and cinematography. Explains what happened in layman's terms but with enough complexity that you can watch the whole series twice and catch all the subtle clues missed the first time around. Captures the time period perfectly and puts a human face on the often vilified soviet stereotype. Ends on a strong moral note that should make people think twice about their response to the current climate crisis.

This is the danger of totalitarian regimes that do not have any hesitation to sacrifice human life, truth, science. and ... for their grab to power.
