I wanted to like this but I found it irritating. For a start I hate the wife. I've never got over Caroline Quentin being made to leave. I'd just about got used to Sheridan Smith, even though she's no Caroline. But then even she left & I just can't warm to the new female lead. I just kept wishing she was going to be the victim. There's also the lame teasing over the solution of a past case. It's as if we're being made to suffer just because his wife hates his detective hobby. I knew how this was going to end. It wasn't rocket science, nothing was a mystery. Having to wait until the end to have everything confirmed felt more of a chore than a pleasure. I feel like I was conned because I can't afford a TV licence. If this is still the quality of BBC programs I'm glad I don't have one.

Great writing and great comedy. Alan Davis as brilliant as Jonathan Creek as always and I'm glad he decided to return. It's a great mystery and I hoped Caroline Quentin would make a cameo - to no avail. Still a great little mystery.
