Rescue Me

A terrifying vision of the afterlife leaves Tommy shaken as he attempts to reconnect with his friends and family back on the outside. At the firehouse, the crew's fate hangs in the balance when the department decides to cut costs.

Tommy comes to terms with his hellish nightmare and attempts to do right by those around him. But when the gang gathers at the bar post save, his plans fall by the wayside.

Tommy's first day back on the job is a busy one as the crew races from call to call. By the end of the shift, the guys are all exhausted, but it's Lou who feels it the most.

Following a tense six-hour wait at the hospital with no word about Lou's condition, the men of 62 Truck are finally brought in to see their friend. Revealing that he had a mild stroke, and not his first one, Lou says he'll be staying in the hospital for a few more days to work with a nutritionist on revamping his diet. However, after getting wind of Lou's condition, the West Side Wildmen move the date of their neighborhood cook-off with 62 Truck to make sure he can't participate. Knowing they can't possibly win the contest without Lou manning the stove, Needles and Tommy hatch a plan to use stolen hospital uniforms to sneak him out early. So, over Black Shawn's objections, Franco is chosen to pose as a doctor and Mike and Sean as orderlies in order to spring Lou loose. Meanwhile, as the clandestine mission gets underway, back at the bar Colleen is surprised when Uncle Teddy arrives to advise that she abandon any hope of ever staying sober. While looking for Lou's hospital room, Franco and his rescue team run across Pat Mahoney, a firefighter whose heroic efforts on 9/11 have been rewarded with a deadly cancer. So, over his friend's objections, Sean insists that they take their ailing comrade with them, too. Meanwhile, Damien is doing his part to win the upcoming cook-off by using his date with Penny, an attractive female firefighter from the competing firehouse, to learn what the Wildmen have planned. Despite an unexpected run-in at the hospital with Sheila, the rescue team presses on with their plan. But after making it to the street only to realize he's much too sick to leave, Pat heads back inside resigned to the fact that this is where he will die. Finally, as Sean returns to the hospital for a bedside vigil with Pat, Lou is back on duty in the kitchen preparing for the showdown with the Wildmen. After he and the dispirited Lou trade stories about what it was like to come back from the dead, Tommy tracks down the priest he saved from the church fire for some advice on repairing his shattered life. A night of heavy drinking turns ugly when Tommy blacks out and loses control. The next day, the crew struggles to put the pieces together as they search for the whereabouts of Colleen.

Tommy loses his nerve when a young driver's recklessness reminds him of his daughter's new lifestyle.  After a meeting fails to put Colleen on the wagon, Tommy is forced to pursue a more aggressive method to get her life back on track.

When headquarters shuts down the house, the crew formulates a makeshift response to a nearby call. A face from the past stirs Tommy and Janet's emotions as their date begins to unravel.

Needles' political leverage catches HQ off guard, leaving them no choice but to reopen the house. Feinberg loses control, Damian saves a helpless victim, and Tommy and Sheila find themselves in hot water.

Tommy and Sheila find themselves in hot water with Janet and Mickey and realize the truth about their own relationship. Damian attempts to leave the crew, but is seduced back by the camaraderie of the brotherhood.

Tommy and Sheila do their best to adjust to life after Damian's accident. Sheila copes with her grief, Tommy struggles to budget his time, and the guys find themselves with a new pickup ploy.
