Meet the Braverman family - series premiere - From Executive Producers Ron Howard, Brian Grazer and Jason Katims, "Parenthood" introduces us to the very large, very colorful and imperfect Braverman family. Single mother Sarah (Lauren Graham, "Gilmore Girls") and her two children Amber (Mae Whitman, "In Treatment") and Drew (Miles Heizer, "ER") are moving back home with her parents Zeek (Craig T. Nelson, "Family Stone," "Coach") and Camille (Bonnie Bedelia, "Heart Like a Wheel"). Sarah's sister and complete antithesis, Julia (Erika Christensen, "Traffic") is a successful corporate attorney trying to juggle work and motherhood, alongside her stay-at-home husband, Joel (Sam Jaeger, "Eli Stone"). Commitment-phobe Crosby (Dax Shepard, "Baby Mama"), Sarah's younger brother, must accept adult responsibility when an old flame Jasmine (Joy Bryant "Antwone Fisher") shows up unexpectedly. Meanwhile, Adam (Peter Krause, "Six Feet Under"), the oldest Braverman sibling, his wife Kristina (Monica Potter, "Trust Me") and teenage daughter, Haddie (Sarah Ramos, "American Dreams"), learn that their eccentric son and Haddie's little brother, Max (Max Burkholder, "Brother and Sisters"), is diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome. Although each sibling and family has its own share of life to grapple with, perhaps this reunion is the push they need to help each other pick up the pieces and focus on the everyday challenges that families face while raising children and starting over. Adam (Peter Krause) and Kristina (Monica Potter) come to terms with the fact that their son may have Asperger's Syndrome. Sarah (Lauren Graham) is on the job hunt and Zeek (Craig T. Nelson) pushes her to dream big. Meanwhile, Crosby (Dax Shepard) bonds with his newly discovered son and Julia (Erika Christensen) deals with an aggravating mom from Sydney's (Savannah Paige Rae) school. After Max (Max Burkholder) gets kicked out of school, Adam (Peter Krause) and Kristina (Monica Potter) explore the best educational options for their son. Sarah (Lauren Graham) hits a wall when she ends things with Jim (guest star Mike O'Malley) and succumbs to car problems. Meanwhile, Crosby (Dax Shepard) spends a fun-filled day with Jabbar (Tyree Brown) and Julia (Erika Christensen) realizes that she's missing out on her daughter's life. Craig T. Adam (Peter Krause) and Kristina (Monica Potter) use questionable tactics to find out about Haddie's (Sarah Ramos) secret relationship. Sarah (Lauren Graham) doesn't know how to talk to Drew (Miles Heizer) when he starts showing signs of becoming a man. Meanwhile, Jabbar (Tyree Brown) has a little accident while under Crosby's (Dax Shepard) watch and Julia (Erika Christensen) and Joel (Sam Jaeger) are hesitant to let Amber (Mae Whitman) baby-sit for them. When Max (Max Burkholder) re-joins the baseball team, Drew (Miles Heizer) helps Adam (Peter Krause) connect with his son. Sarah (Lauren Graham) strikes up a friendship with Amber's (Mae Whitman) English teacher, Mr. Cyr (guest star Jason Ritter). Meanwhile, Crosby (Dax Shepard) feels the pressure to have a baby sooner than he expected and Julia (Erika Christensen) tries to teach Sydney (Savannah Paige Rae) how to stand up for herself. Kristina's (Monica Potter) constant worrying affects her and Adam's (Peter Krause) sex life, and the worrying only gets worse when Max (Max Burkholder) starts working with Gaby (guest star Minka Kelly), a young behavioral aide. Sarah (Lauren Graham) debates whether she should go out on a date with Amber's (Mae Whitman) teacher Mr. Cyr (guest star Jason Ritter). Meanwhile, Crosby (Dax Shepard) tries to muster up the courage to tell his parents about Jabbar (Tyree Brown) and Julia (Erika Christensen) gets jealous of a mom in Joel's (Sam Jaeger) playgroup. Adam (Peter Krause) wants to spend time with his family but has trouble juggling their multiple schedules, especially while Gaby (guest star Minka Kelly) continues to work with Max (Max Burkholder). Sarah's (Lauren Graham) relationship with Mr. Cyr (guest star Jason Ritter) is going better than expected, making her wonder if she should tell Amber (Mae Whitman) about them. Haddie (Sarah Ramos) spends Career Day at Julia's (Erika Christensen) law firm, but her assignment causes Julia and Kristina (Monica Potter) to re-evaluate their respective career choices. Meanwhile, Crosby navigates the world of single parent dating. Sam Jaeger, Joy Bryant, and Miles Heizer also star.

The Braverman family is on high alert when Amber's (Mae Whitman) ex-boyfriend Damien (guest star Eddy Rioseco, "Related") arrives from Fresno. Zeek (Craig T. Nelson) takes Adam (Peter Krause) on a road trip for investment advice and some father-son bonding. Meanwhile, Julia (Erika Christensen) and Joel (Sam Jaeger) worry that Sydney (Savannah Paige Rae) might be suffering from Asperger's and Crosby (Dax Shepard) wants to help plan Jabbar's (Tyree Brown) birthday party. Adam (Peter Krause) has his hands full when Kristina (Monica Potter) goes back to work and leaves him with Max (Max Burkholder) and Haddie (Sarah Ramos) for the weekend. Along with taking care of his own kids, Adam gives Drew (Miles Heizer) girl advice when a school dance approaches. Sarah (Lauren Graham) tries to get Amber (Mae Whitman) excited about college by taking her to an event on campus and unexpectedly runs into an ex. Meanwhile, Julia (Erika Christensen) attempts to teach Sydney (Savannah Paige Rae) a lesson about lying and Crosby (Dax Shepard) takes Jasmine (Joy Bryant) on a real date without Jabbar (Tyree Brown). When Crosby (Dax Shepard) and Jasmine's (Joy Bryant) relationship heats up, they have to decide how to explain it to Jabbar (Tyree Brown). Elsewhere, Adam (Peter Krause) and Kristina (Monica Potter) are on the search for friends but find that the process is more difficult than they thought. Sarah learns about Zeek's (Craig T. Nelson) financial problems. Meanwhile, Julia (Erika Christensen) becomes the new coach of Sydney's (Savannah Paige Rae) soccer team and Haddie (Sarah Ramos) goes to Amber (Mae Whitman) for advice when her boyfriend starts pressuring her into having sex. Trying to get her father out of debt, Julia (Erika Christensen) enlists the help of her old college flame much to Joel's (Sam Jaeger) chagrin. Meanwhile, Amber (Mae Whitman) feels guilty about betraying Haddie (Sarah Ramos) and Crosby (Dax Shepard) thinks about settling down with Jasmine (Joy Bryant) and Jabbar (Tyree Brown). A family walk for autism is jeopardized when Sarah (Lauren Graham) and Adam (Peter Krause) disagree over their daughters' behavior. Haddie (Sarah Ramos) and Amber's (Mae Whitman) secret anger comes to a head and splits the family in two. Elsewhere, Julia (Erika Christensen) tries to help Zeek (Craig T. Nelson) by arranging a dinner meeting for him. Meanwhile, Crosby (Dax Shepard) risks losing Jasmine (Joy Bryant) to New York after she auditions for a dance company. Elsewhere, Crosby (Dax Shepard) must decide whether to move with his new family or stay with his old one. Zeek (Craig T. Nelson) tries to win his way back into Camille's (Bonnie Bedelia) heart. Meanwhile, Julia (Erika Christensen) is forced to be on the Angel committee at Sydney's (Savannah Paige Rae) school but is nonplussed when she has to take care of a single mom recovering from a breast augmentation.
