1 The Original

In the series premiere, another day of fantasy plays out in Westworld – a vast, remote park where guests pay top dollar to share wild-west adventures with android “hosts.” But top programmer Bernard Lowe (series star JEFFREY WRIGHT) alerts park founder Dr. Robert Ford (series star ANTHONY HOPKINS) about incidents of aberrant behavior cropping up in some recently re-coded hosts. Meanwhile, in the Westworld town of Sweetwater, a rancher’s daughter named Dolores (series star EVAN RACHEL WOOD) encounters a gunslinger named Teddy (series star JAMES MARSDEN) in the street – but their predictable narrative is upended by the appearance of a ruthless Man in Black (series star ED HARRIS) and, later, by a supporting host’s unscripted encounter with an artifact of the outside world.

Teddy gets a new backstory, which sets him off in pursuit of a new villain, leaving Dolores alone in Sweetwater. Bernard investigates the origins of madness and hallucinations within the hosts. William finds an attraction he’d like to pursue and drags Logan along for the ride.

4 Dissonance Theory

I just finished binging Season 1. I enjoyed it but did not get from the show what many others are getting from it. I did not find it all that gripping and the plot seemed largely obvious. One of the major story arcs, that of Maeve, is predicated entirely on 1990s Star Trek-ian levels of security failures. 1. Relative nobodies with superuser level system privileges, 2. A relative nobody takes Maeve on a grand tour of the facilities ... and not one person notices, 3. A monitoring system that seemingly detects all anomalous host behaviour, except Maeve's. I can just see the QA team yelling "Helm controls are being re-routed to Engineering!" "Block it!" "I can't! I've been locked out!" "By who?!" "... Maeve..."

SEASON 1: I'm excited. Pretty good series. SEASON 2: That thing is all over the map in multiple directions and multiple time-frames, constantly going back and forth between long scenes of pow-pow and longer "violin scenes". I'm utterly bored most of the time, when I'm not lost, and now I couldn't care less about whatever happens.

I am not sure why, when I have paid for the HD version of the download I am only able to stream in 480p. If that is the HD copy how poor is the SD version. I would have imagined that the HD would have at least been 720p. The show is great, but I was very disappointed in the lack of a decent quality stream.
