Follow this brand new mega-cruiser on her second voyage ever, a wondrous five-night Mediterranean adventure for 4,000 passengers sailing from Genoa to Naples, Messina, the island nation of Malta, and Barcelona, and see firsthand the work it takes to reach each port safely.
5 Sapura 3500
10/28/18
Season-only
Off Malaysia’s coast in the South China Sea, a mighty ship is handling a mighty job—one with no room for error. Heavy-lift pipelayer Sapura 3500 is creating a 5.5-mile pipeline to lay on the ocean floor before assembling and installing a 1,700-ton offshore platform. Once connected, the platform will send millions of cubic feet of natural gas to nearby Malaysia and Vietnam. Completing the job will require every bit of muscle and technology Sapura has to offer along with every ounce of attention and manpower from her 280 crewmembers.
6 Edda Freya
11/4/18
Season-only
Edda Freya is a state-of-the-art construction vessel that makes underwater connections for oil and gas platforms on the open seas. There’s no other mighty ship better equipped for the job, with her specialized cranes, remotely operated vehicles, and giant reels of flexible pipe. But her current job—replacing critical subsea pipes for massive platforms off the coast of Norway—proves especially challenging, as rough North Sea currents and troubles with the ship’s undersea vehicles threaten to derail the high-stakes mission.

I've seen many such cargo ships from the shore. I've toured a retired ore ship. This inside look is fascinating! Not to mention, the captain is a compelling character. The Crystal Serenity cruise ship episode is also well done.

Watch the show prior to our first NCL cruise. The technology and detail in building the ship was amazing. When we boarded the ship for our cruise we were somewhat familiar with the layout and knew what to expect. We were a little disappointed NCL eliminated fireworks at sea.
