But when the job at the Department of Social Affairs and Citizenship is turned down by everybody else, there's no option but to promote her to the Cabinet.

All she really wants to do is get Glenn and Olly to kick-start the Fourth Sector Pathfinder Initiative. And then she gets a call.

Director of Communications Malcolm Tucker and Opposition PR guru Stewart Pearson decide to listen in the comfort of their respective offices, but when some breaking news threatens to make things difficult for the politicians, the program quickly turns into a call-in like no other.

Just as Nicola Murray is about to launch her Fourth Sector Initiative to the media, the media decide that what they really want is someone to launch another leadership contest. Everyone knows Malcolm never takes holidays, so what's he up to now?

About this show

The Secretary of State for Social Affairs is having a meeting with Number Ten's Chief Political Advisor. There have been press rumours that the Minister is to be sacked. The Minister is told that none of these stories have come from Number Ten. However, now they're out there, Number Ten would look weak not to sack him. So he's sacked. His replacement as Minister for Social Affairs takes office. And so starts The Thick of It, featuring an ensemble of the best British comic actors, improvising scripts from the sharpest British comedy writers.

Are the specials Rise of the Nutters and Spinners & Losers not available? It's a good show but I feel like you kind of need those. Maybe I just missed the listings.

What happened to Spinners and Losers? This is one of three episodes between seasons 2 and 3 I can't find.

... It would be this show. I came for Peter Capaldi, and stayed for everyone else. Great stuff, not for the faint of heart.
