About this show

Entering its fifth season, THE RESIDENT continues to shine a light on the daily heroism of our health care workers. The provocative medical drama follows the doctors and nurses at Chastain Memorial Hospital as they face personal and professional challenges and fight for their patients' health. In a propulsive and emotional Season Five, the ante is upped, as the doctors continue to save patients and fight corruption in the healthcare system, this time with a partner. The alliance with Big Pharma that found a cure for sickle cell disease last season proves to be a very sharp double-edged sword. Old relationships will be tested, new ones formed, and the emergence of a widespread Medicare fraud scheme ensures Chastain will never be the same.

I have been wondering what Matt Czuchry (The Good Wife) and Emily Van Camp (Revenge) would be doing next. Wow, did not know they would be in the same new Medical Drama. It deals with the bureaucracy of health care and the fact that many decisions are based upon profits instead of the patient's well being. To compound this, it appears that the hospital management as well as several senior doctors are also more interested in making money. It's up to Matt's character, Conrad, to set things straight.

This show is the definition of a harsh reality, it showcases the multiple multiple flaws of American HealthCare. The protagonists (Matt Czuchry and Emily VanCamp) show how talented they are scene after scene. Meanwhile, the antagonists (Bruce Greenwood and Melina Kanakaredes) portray their characters so effortlessly despite their amazing personalities as themselves. For the record, I honestly think Lane and Randolph make an amazing couple!
