Best series I've seen in years. You'll be crying, then laughing two seconds later. Really interesting use of the "journeys" concept mostly done through its character development but doesn't lack anything in its imaginative storyline. Manages to cluster together a bunch of random and bizarre circumstances which cleverly tie in at the end without seeming farfetched nor too reaching. Reminds me a bit of Little Miss Sunshine, but with more familiar Aussie scenery, language, style and feel. Shows an honest and truthful glimpse of the "every" Australian's encounter of mental illness, adolescence, addiction, grief, loss of identity, and family estrangement, but without being obvious or overbearing. Leaves you with a bit more hope for humanity in showing you how far people go to do the smallest things for others, that really end up being the biggest things. And it's painfully conspicuous that it's not about the things at all. Tim is a star beyond words, as always. I had "Carry You" in my head for weeks. And Milly.. what an incredible character she embodied with perfection - somehow managing to encompass that one alternative quirky Australian teenage girl whom everyone recognises from their lives, yet still portray such a distinct character with a quixotic mind and overflowing with zany personality. Must binge!
