About this show

From acclaimed writer Andrew Davies comes this enchanting adaptation of Jane Austen's classic novel about love and marriage. Marianne wears her heart on her sleeve when she falls in love with the charming but unsuitable John Willoughby. Her sister Elinor, sensitive to social convention, struggles to conceal her own romantic disappointment. Will the sisters find personal happiness in a society where status and money govern the rules of love?

A note first: Google play has more sensibly split the episodes into 2 instead of the original 3, and the descriptions were not changed to reflect that. The whole thing is here. This is my favorite adaptation of Sense and Sensibility. Compared to the Emma Thompson version, this one is much truer to the book. (Mostly because there is more time for more scenes and all of the characters in the book) I especially like how there is more time to delve into a few of the characters, especially Willoughby.

This was an amazing adaptation of Sense and Sensibility. Of course I love The Emma Thompson/Kate Winslet version and it's still my favorite but this one does not disappoint! Highly recommend to anyone who loves Jane Austen stories!
