When our young hero Uhtred loses his Saxon father in battle, his lands and inheritance are taken by his scheming uncle Aelfric, who becomes a puppet-‐lord for the ruling Danes. The Saxon boy is brought up by Danish warlord Ragnar and grows into a warrior. But when his surrogate family is murdered by a group of renegade Danes, Uhtred finds himself alone; neither Saxon nor Dane.

In rescuing Mildrith from suspected abduction, Uhtred is drawn into the great battle of Cynuit, where he heroically defeats a formidable enemy. But when Odda the Younger steals the glory, Uhtred is furious and faces Alfred’s penance.

Uhtred leads a raiding party to Cornwall, on a mission for wealth and independence. The party become mercenaries for a Cornish King and Uhtred attracts the attention of a beautiful pagan queen, but he must eventually return to Wessex and face Alfred’s wrath.

About this show

The year is 872, and many of the separate kingdoms of what we now know as England have fallen to the invading Danes, leaving the great kingdom of Wessex standing alone and defiant under the command of King Alfred (David Dawson, Peaky Blinders). Against this turbulent backdrop lives our hero, Uhtred (Alexander Dreymon, American Horror Story). Born the son of a Saxon nobleman, he is captured by the Danes a nd raised as one of their own. Forced to choose between the country of his birth and the peopl e of his upbringing, his loyalties are ever tested. What is he? Saxon or Dane? On a quest to reclaim his birthright , Uhtred must tread a dangerous path between bot h sides if he is to play his part in the birth of a new nation and, ult imately, recapture his ancestral lands.

Why are seasons 1,2 & 4 available but season 3 isnt available in the UK? what's that about? "Customer service" won't answer simple question without security bureaucracy waste of my time first.

A fascinating look at medieval England with marauding Vikings. Based on Bernard Cromwell's The Saxon series both highly accurate, historically & very well adaptedbfor TV.

Don't get into a lot of movies n stuff but this show is a cracker . Mr Dreymon you are a star my friend natural acting abilty & so engrossed in your character feels like I'm there , good job & congratulatios to your boss he can obviously see real Talent . Heat Bead
