About this show

From Damon Lindelof, co-creator of the hit series Lost, this one-hour drama focuses on a suburban town whose preconceptions are shattered in the wake of a global event dubbed “The Departure” (which may or may not have been the Biblical “rapture”), in which 2% of the world’s population were taken and others left behind.

Quite possibly my favourite television drama of all time. From Episode 3 "Two Boats and a Helicopter" from season 1 onwards, the show is expertly written, acted, directed and edited. The show touches on intense, tragic and incredibly relatable themes while existing within a world that blurs reality and the abstract on a consistent basis. I don't think I've seen another show do a better job at assembling a cast of extremely relatable characters, regardless of whether they're the main, supporting cast or the direct antagonist. You'll be revisiting this series repeatedly and it will make you pause to give thought time and time again.

By far the most accurate portrayal of Australia from any American production ever, and being Australian myself, it was an amazing experience that finally someone actually put effort into researching the country instead of sticking to outdated cliches. Amazing show in general despite the fact I barely had any idea what was going on for half of the episodes. However, I almost feel like it's a metaphor for life in general, that there's no meaning no matter how much we search for it, and sometimes that's something we just have to accept. I think more shows should explore this perspective, not all shows need to hand out answers handed out on a silver platter.

Still not sure what I just watched but the last 2 episodes slightly made sense. I only watched it because nothing else is on.
