Larry David gets himself into hilarious situations and predicaments. The show is completely improvised, but brilliant. Raunchy, but so very funny. I expecially love the interaction between Larry David and Suzie Green. Shack, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Ted Danson, Mary Steenburgen, Wanda Sykes, other celebrities and even the executives from HBO have been written in as part of the story line which I think is brilliant.

"Comedy of manners" is usually code for booooring. Not CYE. Larry David is a genius at blithely exposing the petty grievances and insecurities that we all suffer from and inflict on others. Alternately lying and being honest at precisely the wrong moments (either out of self-interest or privileged ignorance), Larry lets us laugh, often uncomfortably, at our own foibles.

Much like “Seinfeld”, Curb your Enthusiasm likes to find the idiosyncrasies of life, and make fun of them. However, Jerry knew when to stop the bit, and move on. Not so with Larry. He beats each idea to death. With a lot of improv and an extreme amount of screaming. So with Jerry removed from the formula and process, you are left with a rougher, less perfect show than “Seinfeld”. Not to say it isn’t funny or has its moments, but it is sometimes a much longer, louder, ride than one can enjoy.
