In the season seven premiere, it’s May in Chicago. Frank awakens from his month-long coma to find that… no one missed him. While Fiona struggles with managing Patsy’s Pies, Lip takes a job as Fiona’s new dishwasher. Having successfully completed rehab, he’s determined to stay sober, and able to help an increasingly worried Ian, who suspects Caleb (recurring guest star JEFF PIERRE) of cheating. Meanwhile, Carl looks into surgery after learning he’s the only uncircumcised Gallagher brother. And, worried she isn’t a good mother, Debbie takes a criminal approach to making sure Franny grows up wealthy.

Ready to disown his family, Frank takes Liam under wing and starts a new life barricaded on the top floor of the Gallagher home. Fiona, meanwhile, adopts a new, relaxed attitude and starts running Patsy's Pies on her own terms. In order to save the restaurant, she cleans house and hires a new staff. Debbie gets into trouble in the stroller business; Ian tries out heterosexuality; and Carl finds himself forced into abstinence when he has to spend 72 hours not thinking about the opposite sex after his circumcision.

Kevin, Veronica and Svetlana start a topless maid service. At the shelter, meanwhile, Frank makes new friends to replace his old family - leading them to a for-sale house converted into the Gallagher Home for the Homeless. Plus, Debbie's new lifestyle comes to an abrupt end; Carl gets a syphilis scare; Ian struggles with a breakup; Lip struggles with humility at his new internship; and with Fiona on the run to clean up after her siblings, business at Patsy's hits the skids.

Worried that he and his new Gallagher clan are going to lose yet another shelter, Frank devises a plan to change neighborhood perception through goodwill. Meanwhile, Fiona plans a speakeasy party for Patsy’s Pies in order to drum up more business. Kevin and Veronica argue over what to do with Svetlana’s newly arrived father, Yvon (guest star PASHA LYCHNIKOFF).

Frank learns that a billionaire philanthropist has bought the shelter house for Frank and his homeless clan. Fiona gets sage financial advice from a financial consultant she meets on Tinder. Meanwhile, Ian struggles with the growing feelings he has for his platonic friend, Trevor (guest star ELLIOT FLETCHER).

Fiona sees opportunity in a laundromat for sale and decides to invest in it. Frank revels in the good fortune of his latest scam, but the troops catch a whiff of foul play. Ian has mixed feelings about Trevor, while Debbie deals with the bombshell that was dropped on her. Meanwhile, Kev and V discover a shocking secret about Svetlana's father, Yvon, and Carl starts having second thoughts about his decision to go military school.

Fiona learns that owning a laundromat is costlier than expected. Frank helps Liam get into a plush new school after his old one is permanently shut down. Meanwhile, Debbie cleans up her act for her review and grows closer to Neil (guest star ZACK PEARLMAN). And while Lip gets scared by his newfound closeness with Sierra (guest star RUBY MODINE), Kev and V try to cope with the recent discovery of an upsetting secret Svetlana kept from them.

Having used all her money to buy the Laundromat, Fiona takes a DIY approach to renovating the place. Convinced by Youens (recurring guest star ALAN ROSENBERG), Lip agrees to go before the school board in hopes of getting reinstated. Frank tries to ingratiate himself back into the Gallagher house. Meanwhile, Kev's trust in Svetlana wanes even further when the “titty” van goes missing.

Monica (recurring guest star CHLOE WEBB) is back! And her first task is to help Debbie get back Franny. Meanwhile, Frank learns of Monica’s return and tries to avoid her, Ian has his first fight with Trevor, Lip tries to mask his relapsing alcoholism and Fiona's laundromat gets its first bad review. Meanwhile, Kev and V seek out marriage counseling for their woes with Svetlana.

Facing mounting issues with renovations and repair of the Laundromat, Fiona contemplates Margo’s recent offer to buy the place. Ian tries to deal with the reality that Mickey (special guest star NOEL FISHER) might actually be out of prison and on the lam, while Kev and V take matters into their own hands after learning of Svetlana’s newest betrayal.

Frank and Monica have an interesting proposal for the kids. Fiona sees a new business opportunity. Lip tries to finally get his sobriety under control, under pressure from a suddenly grown-up Debbie to get it together. Ian and Mickey play Thelma and Louise. Meanwhile, Kev and V attempt to start a new chapter after losing the bar to Svetlana.

In the season finale, the Gallaghers deal with the loss of one of their own, and grapple with mixed feelings about their grief. Fiona has to once again care for Frank in his time of need, while Frank has a new scheme in mind. Debbie, Carl, and Liam get roped into Frank's caper, while Lip takes steps to improve his future. Meanwhile, Kev and V get their revenge on Svetlana.
