About this show

Living in the same universe as The Walking Dead, Fear the Walking Dead is a gritty drama that explores the onset of the undead apocalypse through the lens of a fractured family. Set in a city where people come to escape, shield secrets, and bury their pasts, a mysterious outbreak threatens to disrupt what little stability high school guidance counselor Madison Clark and English teacher Travis Manawa have managed to assemble. The everyday pressure of blending two families while dealing with resentful, escapist, and strung out children takes a back seat when society begins to break down. A forced evolution, a necessary survival of the fittest takes hold, and our dysfunctional family must either reinvent themselves or embrace their darker histories.

Every bit as good as "The Walking Dead". Like its parent show, "Fear" is filled with memorable characters and interesting post-apocalyptic mini-civilisations. It takes a little while to really come into its own, but when it does, it sometimes surpasses "TWD". The "fear" prefix seems to come from an over-arching theme that explores the way different individuals and different cultures deal with the things that we are afraid of: From the Mexican "Día de los Muertos" inspired acceptance and respect for the living dead in one community, to the countless vignettes, woven into the story, of people running from, confronting and eventually learning to deal with more personal fears or being destroyed by them. The soundtrack is extremely good, almost but not quite as good as "TWD", though contained within this one is the best "Breaking Bad" easter egg yet. Yes folks, while not specifically mentioned in the show, Walter White, it seems, did cause the apocalypse. Overall, an excellent show, filled with action, emotion and fascinating concepts.

I'm old and lucky enough to have witnessed George Romero's nightmare visions and will always revert to those earlier movies as the essence of Zombie apocalyptic horror, however since The emergence of The Walking dead and Fear and to a certain extent " Z Nation " I believe that the genre is in safe hands. Although initially, having aligned myself to TWD, I wasn't really that excited about this off shoot I soon became totaly engrossed in the plot and characterisation, "Nick" being a case in point, his development through the 1st 3 seasons alone is worth watching, and having recently completed season 4 with the introduction of Morgan, what can I say great stuff !! Thanks must surely go to Robert Kirkman and the all the writers involved in the graphic novel and television adaptation of The Walking dead franchise ,I now feel that I can go to my grave safe in the knowledge that Zombie folklore is in safe hands and will be until I return.... as part of the undead !!!! "exit to the sounds of an eerie laugh..."

S1 - 3 were very good with s3 in particular being a highlight. Unfortunately with new show runners, s4 has become a pale imitation of the show that it once was, by killing off 2 of the lead characters, and bringing in a new cast that are completely unlikeable. Add to this, the arrival of the least interesting character from its parent show, poor scripts, a laughable villain, and incoherent plot devices and its time to say goodbye to what was once a decent zombie show. A shame.
