About this show

Based on Lev Grossman's best-selling book series, "The Magicians" follows Quentin Coldwater, a highly intelligent but socially withdrawn twenty-something secretly obsessed with a series of fantasy novels he read as a child about a magical land called Fillory. Beyond that, Quentin's life is dull until he finds himself admitted to a very secret, exclusive college of magic in Upstate New York, where he receives a thorough and rigorous education in the practice of modern sorcery. However, magic doesn't bring the happiness, adventure, and meaning that he thought it would…until he and his friends discover that Fillory is real.

This series is awesome! glad i came across it! if you love magic tv shows u wont be disappointed! i fell in love with the story and characters. i hope this show does well and continues even to season 3. its like Harry Potter mixed with Narnia and its more catered to the adult side (can get dark). i recommended it great series! PS* great that syfy listened! Allowing Australians to buy the new season and watch it is still days later! THANK YOU, i can finally support the series!

Young guy without a family or many friends feels lost in the world, then learns he has magic powers when he recieves an invitation to study at a secret school hidden in the woods in a remote area. All the while a mysterious dark force is growing in the shadows and is an ominous threat to our young protagonist as he seems to know him. Heads of school know more than they share as they train the pupils to one day fight this evil - wait a minute does this all seem familiar????

Adult version of Harry Potter.. can get pretty violent at times... the end of the 1st episode sets the tone when the Beast arrives... I was mesmerized from episode 1 and binge watched the whole 3 series over a week.. absoutely awesome.. can't wait for S4...
