Cult adaptation of Douglas Adam's classic science fiction comedy. The hapless Arthur Dent embarks on a reluctant journey through space, aided by his friend Ford Prefect, a researcher for the Hitchhiker's Guide. With the dubious aid of the Guide, a galactic President with short-term memory loss (in both his heads), a depressed robot and his human companion, Trillian, Arthur embarks on an improbable journey through the universe in search of the meaning of life and a really good cup of tea.

I'm actually reading the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy at the moment, a Trilogy in five parts, and while the book is much longer (being somewhat more detailed, and totally inexplicable to any ordinary life form and most unordinary life forms in general, as Ford Prefect would have said) the serial is a classic and highly enjoyable television show that should not have been cancelled. I expect they went back to wherever the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy publishing building is to have some extremely long lunches.
