This is definitely not family animation for ages 9-12. Lots of violence, though not gory, but this show is stuffed with adult language and themes that will be either inappropriate or just unrelatable to children at an early age. It's sci-fi elements are pretty standard and you won't find a lot of uniqueness there. However, it handles more personal topics like military relationships, gender identity, and growing from other traumatic experiences rather well. Despite being simple, it's believable and well told in the areas that count most when telling a story. It's a good watch and I thoroughly enjoyed my time spent.
