1 The Apple Doesn't Fall

It's not easy being the village GP in Portwenn as once again, Dr Martin Ellingham is the centre of calamity, drama and lingering gossip. Dr Martin Ellingham runs to the aid of headmistress Louisa Glasson when he sees her faint at school. Although Louisa insists she is okay, the doctor is concerned she may be anaemic and asks her to see him at his surgery.

A family of city slickers seeking a new life by the sea look set to disrupt the tranquillity of Portwenn. Anthony and Terri Oakwood and their son Sam move in next door to Louisa Glasson having bought their house from recently widowed Mrs Averill. The family is somewhat unconventional in their lifestyle and their arrival upsets Louisa, Martin and the other locals.

About this show

Doc Martin stars Martin Clunes (Men Behaving Badly) as Doctor Martin Ellingham, a celebrated London surgeon who turns his back on city life and moves to a sleepy Cornish village to become the local doctor. Despite his surgical brilliance, Doc Martin has no interpersonal skills and his bedside manner soon starts to upset his new patients, causing havoc throughout the village. As the community becomes united in horror at their foul new GP, the good doctor soon finds he needs all the allies he can get as he tries to negotiate his way around village life with hilarious consequences!

Often very funny, but some uneven screenplay. The really infuriating thing is that season 4 is missing!
