About this movie

Shortly before completing the sequel to his classic ZOMBIE, the legendary Lucio Fulci became ill and left the Philippines-based production. But when director Bruno Mattei (SHOCKING DARK) and writers Claudio Fragasso & Rossella Drudi (TROLL 2) stepped in to finish, the result became the most insanely enjoyable (The Lucid Nightmare) zombie romp in EuroCult history.

This is a certain type of film you have to be in the mood for and have to have a certain taste for to enjoy. If you love Italian horror films, this will probably appeal to you. If you like zombie movies, this might hit the spot. If you like gore films, this will give you plenty of that. This is certainly no masterpiece, be forewarned of that. It's cheap, and goofy but it also has a certain charm, absurdness, and dreamlike atmosphere to it that only Italian horror films from the 70s and 80s can achieve. The acting is subpar at best (though that's to be expected with a dubbed Italian film shot in the Philippines), but it adds an element of fun to the movie. The music is pretty good but definitely dated, check out how nonsensical the lyrics are to the final song! The gore is pretty solid and the zombie makeup isn't half bad. And the lighting has a dreamy, almost Argento, quality to it. All in all, it's entertaining. I had fun watching it, and that's more than I can say about MOST zombie films. If you want a horror movie that you don't have to take too seriously, this might be for you.

Had this on DVD and it's my favorite Italian horror movie along with zombi 2 and zombi 4.
