In a post apocalyptic future when water has become the world's most precious resource, those hardened few left alive must do whatever it takes to survive. Done with fighting off raiders to protect what little he has, Ernest Holm (Michael Shannon) makes a play to bring a water pipeline to his family's land. Really surprisingly good movie. It could easily be called a modern day "Grapes of Wrath". My only complaint is the completely inappropriate title. I don't see the connection between the title and the movie very clearly. Despite this it is a very authentic depiction of the near future conditions in many parts of the western United States and the challenges they will face and are already beginning to experience. Great dramatic well paced plot and acting across the board.

A solid movie following the story of a farmer trying to save his land, the man who inherits the land after a incident with the farmer and the son and daughter of the farmer. The technology introduced into the movie is absolutely eye-catching, from drones for farming to a interesting phone, with a robotic mule becoming a important piece to the story. On the slow side but never too slow. It has one punching ending.

A futuristic take on the classic western-style narrative. The future isn't so pretty; it avoids a Mad Max style wasteland, but it's bleak nonetheless. The story is what keeps it real. A simple story of ambition, betrayal, and revenge. Young love, tragedy, and everything in between. Solid acting, and an emotional ending. The world stays with you for a while . Really liked it.
